Kandemir Basmacıoğlu, with a passionate combination of musicality and intellectualism, reinvents music for his audience in his each performance.
Mr. Basmacıoğlu started his piano career in Kyrgyzstan at an early age. He worked with some of the most competent teachers such as Anna Garibian and Gülnara Aziz during his education and had the chance of working together with world-renowned artists such as Michael Markov, Michael Roll, Petrushansky Boris Konrad Elser and Oxana Yablonskaya. He gave concerts in many countries such as Turkey, Germany, Italy, Ukraine and Bulgaria.
In 2006, he joined the prestigious Cyprien Katsaris Piano Academy held in Germany. Mr. Cyprien Katsaris expressed his thoughts upon Basmacıoğlu performing F. Liszt’s b minor sonata with the following words: “Kandemir Basmacıoğlu, whose excellent performance I had the chance to listen to, is impressive with his remarkable musicianship and especially his keyboard dominance. In Germany’s Thüringische Landeszeitung newspaper, the following words were made about Basmacıoğlu’s performance: “Kandemir Basmacıoğlu, with his self-confidence, promised a very bright future, while his fingers flying over the keys were moving between strong and soft melodies.”
After being honored with the DAAD Artist Scholarship awarded by German Government to continue his higher education in Germany, he won the Borusan Music Scholarship provided by Turkey’s leading private art institution Borusan Art and gave a concert as a soloist with Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Gürer Aykal.
Basmacıoğlu also gave a recital at the 15th International Antalya Piano Festival. In February 2020, he was one of the five pianists who took part in the concert held at the Berlin Philharmonic Chamber Music Hall to mark Beethoven’s 250th birthday.
After completing his studies with Vassily Lobanov at Hochschule für Musik Köln, he completed his Proficiency in Art studies at Anadolu University State Conservatory.
Since 2010, Kandemir Basmacıoğlu has been continuing his academic studies in the Piano Department of the Istanbul Technical University State Conservatory as an Associate Professor.
