About

Bosphorus Trio

Bosphorus Trio is where discipline, idealism and perfectionism meet. Bosphorus Trio is one of the most fascinating chamber music groups of our time, with each member having these very characteristics.

Bosphorus Trio consists of three dedicated musicians who aim to bring a novel approach to the piano trio repertoire. Bosphorus Trio, which started receiving invitations for many performances shortly after its first concert, left a strong impression in the minds of audiences. Since their first rehearsal, they have continued to work with the motto of “our composers first”, and made it a mission to discover the forgotten and unknown treasures of Turkish composers. Undoubtedly the most beautiful example of these ideals, Ferid Tüzün’s Piano Trio, written 68 years before its premiere which Bosphorus Trio made at İstanbul Süreyya Opera House. Bosphorus Trio has made a significant effort with the very composition to reach larger audiences by performing the work at the 35th International Ankara Music Festival.

The trio aims to bring a novel perspective and fresh interpretation to Turkish composers’ works as well as classical works from different periods such as Haydn, Beethoven, Dvorak and Debussy. Bosphorus Trio’s artistic mission is to find the next exciting repertoire ranging from contemporary to classical period.

“International Chigiana Academy”, one of the most renowned music academies in the world, accepted Bosphorus Trio as an active participant because of its high competence and provided them with a scholarship. Bosphorus Trio at the “International Chigiana Academy”, worked with Professor Günter Pichler of Alban Berg Quartet, one of the leading chamber music masters of history. At the end of the academy, Prof. Pichler honored all three members of Bosphorus Trio for their outstanding achievements and competencies with the diploma named “Diploma of Merit”. This diploma is rarely presented to musicians who join the academy for the first time and proves the world-class level of the Bosphorus Trio. After its successful performance in “Palazzo Chigi Saracini” in Siena, Bosphorus Trio made a completely different impression both in the eyes of professionals and the audience.

Renowned music publisher Baerenreiter, who is considered as a leader in the field of chamber music, started to support Bosphorus Trio as the official music score sponsor for the rest of their career. Bosphorus Trio proudly continues its work with Baerenreiter Urtext.

Bosphorus Trio has gained international recognition with their album “Turkish Piano Trios” released in 2020 under the Naxos label. The trio was nominated at the 2021 International Classical Music Awards at the same time as this album is released.

Bosphorus Trio, a young, energetic and charismatic piano trio, continues its journey as a cultural ship that opens to the world from the Bosphorus.
